Board Members

Anne Livingstone
Chairperson
Why did you choose to get involved with the board of Sunny Cycles?
I want to be involved in setting up this new charity for inclusive cycling. I want to be part of a board that will have regular, open AGMs, with transparency on fiscal matters, and one that is properly regulated. The current board is diverse in terms of gender and ethnicity, and is composed of people who are honest, decent and passionate about delivering our aims. It is also a board comprising people of various skills and experience, which will be invaluable in setting up Sunny Cycles and ensuring that it continues to deliver what it promises.
What skills and experience do you bring to Sunny Cycles?
I have volunteered at FWN for 7 years and have a vast knowledge of working with people with special needs, and with large school groups, who regularly use the track. I can match an indivivual with the bike/trike or adapted bike/trike that best suits their needs. I also have experience of working at the welcome desk, handling money, and coping on busy days with large queues. I can fix simple problems on bikes e.g. a loose chain. I have many years experience of taking out groups on led rides, and I also posses a first aid certificate. I have been told that I have a warm and welcoming manner, which is also an important factor, as we want to be sure that users enjoy their experience on the track. I can handle conflict when necessary, in a calm manner. Also, I have a keen eye for health and safety when on duty at the track.

Why did you choose to get involved with the Board of Sunny Cycles?
Sunny cycles was set up by a group of volunteers like myself in response to maintaining and supporting staff (who were recently made redundant) to continue, with their much needed & valued work. In addition to the staff members there is a strong volunteer base who work alongside the staff members. I run Mount Vernon Cycling group, we have linked in with staff and volunteers during lead rides and we have always valued their experience. If there is anyway I can help this group adapt and thrive I'm in.

Why did you choose to get involved with the board of Sunny Cycles?
Cycling has been a constant in my life for as long as I can remember. It’s brought me joy, freedom, and countless meaningful connections. When I was looking for a way to feel more connected to Glasgow—my home away from home—I discovered Sunny Cycles and immediately felt drawn in. What truly inspired me was the charity’s mission: to make cycling accessible to everyone. As someone who’s passionate about cycling, I knew I wanted to be part of that vision. Sunny Cycles isn’t just about cycling—it’s about opening doors, building community, and bringing joy to people who might never have imagined cycling as part of their lives. I'm proud to support an organisation that's creating opportunities, forging connections, and empowering people through the simple but powerful act of riding a bike.
What skills and experience do you bring to Sunny Cycles?
I have over a decade of experience across the third and public sectors in both the UK and the US, with a foundation in mental health, public health, and health promotion. I am able to apply my background of experience to understand how cycling can support wellbeing and build stronger, healthier communities. I also provide communication support and a genuine passion for engaging with people—listening, connecting, and responding to community needs. I’m committed to the long-term sustainability of Sunny Cycles and bring a strategic, people-centred mindset to everything I do. My focus is on helping the charity grow in a way that’s both inclusive and sustainable, ensuring its impact continues for years to come.
