Ride Safety Information

For Sunny Cycles, ensuring the safety of participants in cycling activities is paramount. Any activity staged by Sunny Cycles is planned with safety in mind.

Whether you are a Member of Sunny Cycles, or have come along to go out on Led Rides, please note and be prepared to accept you do so at your own risk: however …..

Sunny Cycles Ride Leaders have been trained and certified to National Standards. They also hold current First Aid training qualifications. Their job is your safety!

Prior to any ride away from “base”, routes will have been previously reconnoiter to assess potential hazards and how risks will be minimised. Ride Leaders will give a briefing to the riding group before setting off.

You must take note of Ride Leaders’ briefings and comply with any instructions given as the ride proceeds.

Sunny Cycles is covered by insurance for any incident that may occur whilst out on a led ride. BUT, any rider not showing due care and attention, will be deemed to be behaving “at their own risk” - Sunny Cycles will dispute liability for any consequences.

Ride Leaders may refuse to take badly behaved cyclists on our future rides.

If you have any health or medical conditions, please inform the Ride Leader before any ride.

There are often Ride Leader Assistants in bigger groups and they will be working with the Ride Leader. The Ride leader will make Ride Assistants known to you before setting out. These Ride Assistants may issue instructions or give warnings to you. Passing information is invaluable for group safety.

Ride Leaders and others will offer advice on how you can do pre-activity checks on your own bicycle (so-called “M checks”, or “ABC checks”). They may also advise on other useful items to bring. It all makes for a safer and enjoyable ride.
